On Sunday 24th April I married a local couple in the beautiful Paradise Palms grounds. The weather was amazing and one of those really special days with blue skies and a slight breeze to cool us. There were lots of local and interstate guests and the bride was given away by her mother and father which made it very special. I had a lot of fun and we laughed a lot. They looked so very happy.
On 21st April I travelled up the Kuranda Range to marry a local Cairns couple in the beautiful Cedar Park Rainforest Resort, with a few family members present. We had many laughs and it was such a pleasure to act as their Celebrant and I enjoyed meeting their children.
On the afternoon of 18th April I married a couple from South Australia. Lots of guests from Japan had flown over to join them as well as family from South Australia. It was a lovely wedding and they had a local photographer and videographer as well as a local translator from English into Japanese. A really nice couple and I wish them all the very best for their life together.
On Saturday 16th April I was back again at Sea Temple – this time for a much larger ceremony. A couple from southern Queensland in front of 20 guests married on the Boardwalk. Again an amazing day with blue sky and blue sea, lots of champagne and fun. The groom’s two children acted as flower girl and page boy and they were two of the most self assured and beautiful children I have met in my time as a Celebrant. We had several adult conversations and I enjoyed it so much.
On 11th April I drove up the winding road to Port Douglas on a beautiful tropical autumn day with views to die for. I married a couple from New Zealand in front of their 4 guests and their 11 month old daughter. Their wedding was on the boardwalk with an amazing view over the sea and shaded by the trees – a beautiful day.
On Saturday 9th April afernoon I married a couple from the UK with a few friends in attendance and their little boy as well. It was a lovely day – a little bit of a breeze – but sunny and being from such a cold climate they loved it. They are now going to try and come and live here permanently.
I was back on Lizard Island again on 4th April to marry a couple from New South Wales who had eloped. The weather was not kind to us but we had their wedding in the amazing Pavilion looking over the sea. It is so very private there and very popular for weddings, and two members of Lizard Island staff acted as witnesses. We had bubbles to celebrate and they had a seven course dinner with appropriate wines later in the dining room. It is always wonderful to be on Lizard Island – probably my most favourite place in the world.
On 31st March I married a couple from England on Sunset Beach at Lizard Island. It was an absolutely beautiful wedding and a few misty eyes. They had 5 friends with them and two of these acted as Bridesmaid and Best Man. The couple lit two candles at the start of their ceremony to represent their mothers who had both passed away and were very much missed on their wedding day. After a glass or two of bubbles they went off to have photos and video with Colyn from Lovegreen and Colin from MOD videos. We had such a great day together.
On 22nd March I performed a Renewal of Vows Ceremony for a couple – on the beach opposite Vivos Restaurant. It was lovely and I took some photos of them after their ceremony with their camera and managed to not cut off their heads or legs. Photography is not my best subject!
