My second wedding yesterday was at the Sister Cities Site on the Esplanade in Cairns which is opposite the Pier. A local couple and their two children and their family and friends celebrated their marriage and thank goodness the rain held off.
Yesterday I performed a wedding for one of my son’s schoolfriends and I suddenly realised that my own child was in fact also old enough to get married. It was quite a surreal experience as I had known this boy since he was 5 years old and here he was standing before me in the lovely Barrier Reef Chapel with his beautiful bride. There were around 100 friends and family there and we had some amazing music playing, so much so that I really felt like dancing myself, especially watching the bride dancing back up the aisle again. It was such fun.
On Friday 9th July I was back in beautiful Port Douglas, this time to act as Celebrant at the Sea Temple Resort and Spa which is such a beautiful property for a wedding. The interstate couple were married on the boardwalk and the bride read a poem to her groom which made him very emotional. Lots of smiles and laughter.
Yesterday I performed a wedding for a local couple in the beautiful Blue Horizon Chapel at the Hilton Hotel. Lots of immaculately dressed guests and such a pleasure to be a part of this lovely ceremony.
Friday 2nd July was a busy day for me as I had been on the Atherton Tablelands earlier in the day and then travelled down the Kuranda Range to marry a couple at Paradise Palms Resort and Country Club – one of my favourite places. Unfortunately the unseasonal weather was not kind to us so we had their marriage within the Resort itself, in one of their beautiful rooms and they then had their official photographs outside around the Golf Course. A really nice local couple and lots of local and interstate guests. The grooms mother and sister both read poems and we had a very happy time.
On Friday 2nd July I travelled up the very winding Gillies Highway to Foxwell Park Lodge which is near Malanda. What an impresssive property with 60 acres of scenic view complete with a barramundi lake. What more can you ask for. A couple and their two friends as witnesses and they were all dressed in black although the bride did have yellow in her dress as well as beautiful yellow flowers. It was fun and I hope I get the chance to go back there again sometime in the future.
Also on 27th June I married a couple at the little cove just north of the Palm Cove Jetty where it is a more private. We included some special words to include their young daughter and another special day in Paradise.
On Sunday 27th June I married an interstate couple on the beach at the northern end of Palm Cove. It was a beautiful day and they picked this area as it was opposite the Palm Cove Webcam so their friends overseas could watch them whilst they were married.
On Saturday 25th June I married a local couple in a part of the Botanic Gardens. Despite threatening rain clouds and a fairly soggy grassy area, the ceremony went off beautifully and there was lots of applause as I declared them to be husband and wife.The bride had provided a lovely white lantern to contain the three candles for their candle unity ceremony and they stayed alight for the whole ceremony.
On 24th JuneI travelled up the beautiful scenic road from Cairns to Port Douglas to marry an interstate couple with a few family members as witnesses in Little Cove at Rex Smeal Park. The bride and groom arrived by horse and carriage and there were a lot of holidaymakers taking photos as they looked fantastic. A lovely intimate ceremony and a very happy couple.
